Day1 iin Jakarta, and we had the most memorable lunch at Shanghai Blue 1920 — a beautiful spot that transported us straight to old Batavia and 1920s Shanghai. From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted by rich Chinese heritage: Han characters on the door, vintage Art Deco furniture adorned with floral details, and that nostalgic temple-like scent that set the mood instantly. Dining here felt like stepping into a different era — where every detail tells a story and every dish brings back the elegance of the past. The menu serves a unique fusion of Chinese and Betawi flavors, all beautifully presented in a setting full of history and charm. With its iconic bar and dreamy interiors, Shanghai Blue 1920 isn’t just a restaurant — it’s a cultural escape. We absolutely loved it and can’t wait to come back.

Made reservation here for birthday celebration dinner with family. Nice ambience, great decor, and friendly service. Recommended menus are: 1. Kepiting goreng leci 2. Sayur 8 macam 3. Supit kepiting udang telur asin 4. Sapi lada hitam shanghai blue Note in mind, the menu is for 3-4 person.

Ordered lumpia Shanghai, crab soup, and Hainan rice. I would say there's nothing remarkable about the food except for the Hainan Rice. The Hainan rice's chicken is so juicy, the meat is flavorful and melted in our mouth. The rice is aromatic, the longing ginger flavor indicated that it's a good Hainan rice. The place is super cute, amazing decor, and ambiance. I would rather sit on the rooftop for the smoking area. The parking space is tricky here so might need valets or just use public transportation. So maybe come for the Hainan rice?

To be honest, the great thing over this restaurant was the place and ambience. The food was just okay. I ordered salt and pepper tofu which tasted quite bland. I tried to ask for a chili oil but they gave me the chili-infused oil rather than the flavorful chili oil with flakes of spices on it. Then, the beef kwayteow also tasted mediocre considering my initial high expectation. However, the salted egg chicken was nice enough compared to others food i ordered.

Okay, mark my words, you NEED to try this!!! This has become my new favorite and go-to restaurant around Menteng area. The interior is sooooo nice, 5-star service (though it made me feel awkward having the waiters all ready in front of us–felt observed lol but that's okay!), the taste? everything we ordered (and we ordered many) tasted AMAZING! i would recommend trying the bihun kerapu curry, godness gracious. The price is also reasonable because everything is sharing-sized so the portions are big. Loooove it!

Nice interior and Classic. Very instagrammable too. Not too crowded in the weekend last time I visit yesterday. This restaurant dont have aircon, so its better for you and your friends and family hangout here in pandemic situation. Price around 100 thousand/person its quite ok. Enjoy
